The BeeRing Friendly Hive is an innovative bee habitat that merges technology, nature, and well-being into a portable and sustainable design. Created for global distribution in both indoor and outdoor environments, these hives are designed to support the reproduction and protection of bees, allowing them to thrive in a natural setting. By adopting a BeeRing Hive, individuals can interact with bees in a friendly and sustainable way, contributing to their global repopulation and supporting a cause that goes beyond economic gain.
BeeRing is a non-profit initiative. Our goal is not to generate profits but to use the funds obtained to donate hives in exchange for information that helps us advance more rapidly in our research on bee communication. By donating the hives, we not only gather valuable data on their behavior but also teach beekeepers to practice a more friendly and sustainable approach to beekeeping.
We are currently developing a device that can be inserted into the hive without opening it, capable of measuring hive frequencies to optimize beekeeping. This device will reduce the stress that hives endure, especially during pollination in adverse conditions. We are already securing the necessary funds to make it accessible to all beekeepers and to continue advancing in our mission.
The BeeRing Hive is made from eco-friendly wood, sourced from trees specifically planted for this purpose. The hive’s design is inspired by the natural habitats bees create inside tree hollows. It consists of 32 specially designed pieces that cater to the needs of the bees, ensuring they can carry out their natural activities without disruption.
Frames: The hive contains 14 movable frames, distributed across two levels. The lower level is dedicated to brood, while the upper level is reserved for honey. These frames allow the bees to build their honeycomb naturally, with cell sizes determined by the bees themselves, not by prefabricated plastic panels.
Entrances: The hive has three access points, providing flexibility in its placement. Each entrance is equipped with a specially designed device that prevents harmful insects from entering while allowing pollen collection from the bees’ legs. This ensures the hive remains protected and productive without the need for frequent openings.
Acrylic Tube: Bees access the hive through an acrylic tube that includes two levels with small holes to facilitate airflow. This system supports the processes of incubation and honey maturation, maintaining an optimal internal environment.
Feeding and Treatment: The hive’s design allows for feeding the bees and administering preventive treatments without opening the hive. This feature minimizes disturbances and helps maintain the health of the hive.
Indoor Design: The BeeRing Hive is suitable for indoor placement, allowing the bees to live comfortably even in extreme weather conditions or during fumigations. The hive is equipped with glass or mesh panels, depending on the need, which can be uncovered to observe the bees and covered to maintain their privacy.
Natural Honeycomb Formation: Bees in the BeeRing Hive build their honeycomb naturally, with cell sizes that adapt to their specific needs. This contrasts with commercial hives, which often force bees to conform to uniform cell sizes using prefabricated panels.
Portable and Safe: The BeeRing Hive is designed to be easily portable and safe for use both indoors and outdoors. Its design ensures that bees can be safely observed and interacted with, offering a unique opportunity for beekeepers and enthusiasts.
Spiritual and Meditative Use: The hive facilitates deep meditation and spiritual connection through its design. By removing the glass and installing the mesh, users can listen to the bees’ sounds and attune themselves to their vibrations, promoting harmony and relaxation.
Health and Wellness Applications: The hive allows for apitherapy by safely extracting bees for apitoxin treatment without disturbing the hive. Additionally, the air generated by the hive can be inhaled through a special device to help alleviate pollen allergies.
Natural Products: Honey, beeswax, propolis, and royal jelly can be harvested from the hive without any mechanical processing, preserving their vitality and health benefits. This ensures that the products remain fresh and “alive,” unlike many commercially processed alternatives.
