Maestras Abejas

DOCUMENTARY SERIES FOR TV NETWORK OR WEB

Synopsis

Through this docuseries, Maestras Abejas follows Javier Camilo Franco, in his travels around the world. He is determined to achieve his purpose, just as the very special non-conventional beehive that travels with him. As they travel he cares for the hive sharing one and the same goal: repopulating planet Earth with bees and empathy.

How?

Their success depends on the motivation of the people that are willing to take responsibility and assume the role of becoming guardians of the bees undertaking a very specific task: to adopt a friendly beehive in their homes as part of their family.

What!

“Yes, this is possible and we are already doing it”, says Javier Camilo Franco, the enthomologist who is the creator of the BeeRing philosophy. He has dedicated more than 40 years to observe the decline of the bee population and its possible causes.

“Through this trip, summarises Camilo, “we will be able to show the experience of organisations and people that have already awaken to the importance of protecting the natural cycles of life, experiences whose impact is full of innovation, where the mutual benefit obtained from the balanced relationship between the bees, human kind and the rest of the environment is made obvious”.

“But I don’t travel alone…”, adds Javier Camilo as we discover that he actually travels with two inseparable friends: a boy full of curiosity with a very special connection to non-human animals, and a very extroverted little bee who is the link between humans and the rest of the animal population.

Three different actors, three different roles, different communicating languages… all directed towards one and only one goal: to disseminate real life stories that show how empathy is the key not only to promote the protection of the bees but to develop an attitude of respect towards life itself. Different stories give life to the 12 chapters of the first season of this docuserie where little by little Javier Camilo Franco with his observation beehive as a symbol, leave tracks in the hearts of homes all over the world with a message: the need to shift our consciousness.

Maestras Abejas Synthesis

Maestras Abejas is a live school supporting the emotional intelligence of kids, especially the seven year old ones, and, as Reuven Bar-On the pioneer in emotional intelligence stated, “this fact does not necessary go hand in hand with the intellectual coefficient.”  He developed the means to understand how in the absence of emotional intelligence central pillars like empathy, adults promote negative decisions that impact the environment.

The observation of the natural cycle of the bees along with the problems that are currently creating their collapse motivated Javier Camilo Franco to create the BeeRing philosophy. This philosophy is a wholistic contemplation and a conscious education channel for people to get close to the bees and interact with them safely and in doing so, learn from their work in community and the universal wisdom they enact. This is how the BeeRing sanctuaries were born, settled in important botanical gardens around the world, they guarantee a safe space for life. The first sanctuary was created by Javier Camilo Franco and his sons back in 2008 in Vero Beach, Florida, USA.

The second sanctuary, created in 2018 is located in Jardines de México, the world’s biggest flowering park, located in the State of Morelos, México. According to the activist, these sanctuaries “represent a unique opportunity for visitors to get close to a huge beehive and by connecting with it, interact in ways they have never experienced before”.

This friendly contact with the bees has a waiting list for The BeeRing to create new sanctuaries in other corners of the world. Sanctuaries open a social channel for contemplation along with the development of different education and research oriented activities.

To further stress this idea, Javier Camilo Franco comments: “We make visible the urgent need to make people aware and be sensible towards the bees in their own homes.

This is the reason why we created friendly hives to locate inside the house, in classrooms, in the office. A simple fact becomes visible: respectful observation of the beehive can become a trascendental experience for both children and adults. Eventually, little by little the amazing intrinsic knowledge of the bees that live in community will be assimilated by the people.” “These beehives are the result of decades of observation”, adds the activist, “They represent a scientific response to the problem. This habitat was especially designed to recreate the BeeRing philosophy, it’s very close to the original design of the beehives in nature. The design respects the bees so that they can build their own hives”.

And a plus, “it gives families the opportunities to obtain their own organic honey without damaging the bees”.  By donating a friendly beehive to each chapter of the Maestras Abejas docuseries, the BeeRing will create a global observation and research network which will enable further learning about the life and communicating patterns of the bees. “It’s very important to keep learning about the issues that are harming them”. None the less, Javier Camilo states: “adopting a friendly beehive goes hand in hand with a fundamental responsibility”.

Even when the cost of the friendly beehive is zero, the need to protect them with love and respect offering a safe space inside the human environment where the bees can access the exterior through a safe channel so that they can come and go freely to be able to live and accomplish their sublime task of pollinating.”  Good will on the part of humans to be able to make the necessary changes in their daily lives is required.” According to the activist this will contribute to reivindícate healthy flower environments and additional positive colateral effects for both human beings and the rest of the species, especially regarding health and food.
